The ability of academic units to generate revenue varies widely across campus. Increasing your revenue can be transformative for your unit.
Summer sessions and concurrent enrollment are reliable sources of revenue available to all departments and schools. In addition, various offices across the campus support other methods of generating revenue, including:
- New Academic Ventures - Berkeley (Nav-B), which focuses on new degree programs, executive education, certificate programs, etc. (Nav-B reports to the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost.)
- University Business Partnerships & Services (UBPS), which focuses on university-wide sponsorships. (UBPS is in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance.)
- The Intellectual Property and Industry Reseach Alliances office (IPIRA), an excellent resource for discussing monetizing research, both individually and through industry research alliances with academic units. (IPIRA is in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research.)
