There are many important timelines and deadlines to attend to.
Pro-tip: Using bCal makes scheduling *much easier* and saves your staff valuable time. Events you are expected to attend will appear on your calendar. Colleagues will know when you are free, busy, or out of the office.
In addition to the usual academic calendar dates, you'll want to be familiar with the academic personnel timelines for recruitment, appointment, and review.
- The Office for Faculty Equity & Welfare (OFEW) publishes deadlines and timelines for senate and non-senate faculty searches.
- People & Culture's staff recruitment website includes guidance around recruitment timelines.
- The Graduate Division's GSI and GSR appointment handbook provides deadlines and guidance for academic student employee appointments.
- The Academic Personnel Office publishes a calendar each year (under 'Quick Links') for appointment and merit and promotion cases. Note that some of these are APO deadlines; deans may issue their own internal deadlines to department chairs or associate deans.
Timely submission leads to timely review (and vice versa)!
Another important set of deadlines to add to your calendar are those for Academic Program Review (a 2-3 three year process once a decade) and for the approval of new or revised courses by the Senate Committee on Courses & Instruction (COCI).
